DSACR MOURNS PASSING OF SPORT JOURNALIST – MYZER MABELENG
It is with shock and sadness that the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (DSACR) has received news of the untimely passing of Ms. Myzer Mabeleng – a sport journalist and broadcaster who was also a National Executive Committee member of the Bloemfontein Celtic Football Club supporters’ association. Ms. Mabeleng also served as an official of Mathaithai Football Club which plays in the Mangaung Regional League.
Commenting about these tragic developments, the Free State MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Mrs. Limakatso Mahasa stated that, “We are truly saddened by the passing on of Myzer Mabeleng. She unfortunately passes on at a time when we are seeking to transform sport to better represent our national demographics and all genders. As a woman in sport, her fortitude will continue to serve as an inspiration for many generations to come.”
MEC Mahasa further commented that, “The Department continues to enjoy strategic relations with Bloemfontein Celtic and supports it through various means as well as financially. We will therefore collaborate with the club to honor this gallant of a woman. On behalf of the Department and the people of the Free State, I wish to convey our deepest condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. The Department dips its banner in honor of such a woman who actively dedicated her life towards sport development in our province. May her soul rest in peace.”
